101. darkly through the glass
there’s a couple of suits out there
knocking on the door,
Jehovah’s witnesses or mormons or accountants,
maybe.
they tell me
the only sure things in life are death & taxes,
(so as yet, I’m no wiser),
but I tell them that
sometimes I feel like
I’m dead already
& just waiting for the actual event itself to happen.
I’m sure now, though, that if ever I do die,
I am going to be very disillusioned,
cos the suits told me that
I can have everlasting life
in His care,
so logic dictates that they must be
accountants, I guess, or maybe
independent financial advisors.
I mean – god-botherers wouldn’t lie to you
would they?
