50. the other world
It happened to me
just as they said it would.
you stand very still,
in front of a mirror
and just stare and stare,
patiently
& it may take a minute,
or it may take an hour,
but at some point
you will be gripped by an absolute terror,
as your body realises
that the person looking back at you
is not you,
– it is the other,
in the other world.
