272. the waiter in the woods
even as I sit here now
it waits
in a clearing in the woods
it’s malevolence touches me here
reaches out
and one day I know
I must go there
to reclaim my future, my past
and it waits there
out there
in the darkness, in the night, in the rain
years at a time
but it knows I will come
one day,
I will come
so it waits
and waits
and waits.
