289. a little heavy water
I really don’t miss the smoke
not like people say you do
now that it’s gone
life carries on regardless.
a dirty place, a shameful place,
a carelessly spiteful
impersonal frenzied place strewn
with detritus and street furniture
and the occasional Englishman
where Ferraris nestled upto rusty Datsuns
the flotsam & jetsam
of so-called civilization.
If you’d like to see
a little of it now
you’ll need to buy a snow-shaker
or maybe get yourself out to Lake Havasu.
