at the adoption centre
leaned in a little closer
& explained kindly
that they were all out of
new-borns
and were we fussy ?
Not at all
said me & the missus
– and we’d got the gear together
the wipes, the creams, the powder…
Well, she’s got curly blonde hair,
a lovely little girl…..
– she can be a little bit feisty
on occasion –
but she’s very loving
and likes lots of hugs & kisses
and here’s her picture……
she’s thirty five
and done up here in a French maid’s outfit
Oh yes, I gargled
choking slightly on my tea
she’ll do……
not perfect, but, you know,
