I watch the cat drink
from her glass
on the bedside table
in which her dentures sit
but say nothing
even when she
fishes them out
puts them in
& make out that I’m smiling
at something on TV
and what she doesn’t know
won’t hurt her, right ?
& the cat doesn’t seem to mind.
