32. you & I
here we stand, only feet apart,
across a sea of faces,
two strangers on a train,
you look at me
and I at you,
and your stare consumes me
like I’m made for your delight
and you for mine.
Why don’t you look away?
and yet I pray you don’t,
and you don’t –
then too soon you’re gone,
like yesterday,
until tomorrow,
I’ll hold my breath
and live this moment
complete.
